In a groundbreaking move towards revolutionizing healthcare and well-being, the Reproductive Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH) Equity Programme has been officially inaugurated in Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties. This collaborative initiative, championed by Excellency Governors, the UNICEF representative Mrs. Shaheen Nilofer, and USAID Head of Mission Mr. David Gosney, sets out to address critical health challenges with a focus on elevating the overall quality of life in these communities.
Addressing Core Concerns: Clean Water, Survival, and Child Protection
The heart of the program lies in its dedication to confronting key challenges faced by communities in these four counties, with a spotlight on improving access to clean water, ensuring survival, and fortifying child protection measures.
Access to Clean Water: Recognizing the foundational role of clean water in preserving good health, the RMNCAH Equity Programme is poised to enhance water infrastructure, ensuring communities have unfettered access to safe and clean water sources. This initiative not only addresses immediate health concerns but also stands as a robust preventive measure against waterborne diseases.
Survival Initiatives: The program’s commitment to improving survival rates entails the implementation of strategies to bolster healthcare services, particularly for maternal and child health. This encompasses improved access to prenatal and postnatal care, vaccinations, and other vital healthcare services, culminating in a reduction in preventable deaths.
Child Protection Measures: Acknowledging the vulnerability of children, the RMNCAH Equity Programme will focus on strengthening child protection measures. This involves the implementation of community-based programs, creating awareness, and working closely with local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
